WALLACE P. "WALLY" SCHEIDT, 78, died at 11:30 a.m. November 27, 2005, at Lima Manor Nursing Home. He was born January 31, 1927, in Venedocia, Ohio to Forest Burris and Kathryne Pugh Scheidt, who preceded him in death. On March 5, 1949, he married Gloria Swords, who died December 5, 1998. Mr. Scheidt had been the flagman at Allentown,Ohio, Eldora, Millstream, Attica and other speedways. He was a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, and the Amateur Trapshooting Association. He was an Army veteran serving from June 17, 1945, to December 22, 1946. Survivors include three brothers-in-law, the Rev. David (Virginia) Swords of Asheville, N.Carolina, and Charles (Sharon) Swords and Larry (Carol) Swords, both of Lima, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Margaret Swords of Huron, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. A private burial of the cremains will be at a later date.
