Walter Gene Geib

Walter Gene Geib, 87, of Lima, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:55 AM at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio.
Gene was born on March 19, 1929 to the late Walter and Thelma {Boyd} Geib.
On July 11, 1953, he happily married Willa Smiley. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2014.
Gene was a member of Rousculp Church of Christ in Lima, Ohio. He was a graduate of Lima Senior High School. He was in the US Army during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He worked for Standard Oil and retired in 1991 after 41 years.
He is survived by his daughters Beth (Richard) Wehner of Schoolcraft, MI and Jeri Ingle of Sylvania, OH, and 6 grandchildren Rachel (David), Jordan, Ashley, Zachary, Joshua, and Lindsey.
Gene is also preceded in death by his daughter Marcene Shoemaker.
His family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 12-2PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio with a funeral service following at 2PM. Chuck Collins will officiate.
Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
