WALTER KAUFMAN, 73, died at 3:35 a.m. October 19, 2004, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1931, in Wayne Township to Guy O. and Mabel Ann McGinnis Kaufman, who preceded him in death. On June 6, 1954, he married Betty Vermillion, who died November 16, 1991. Mr. Kaufman retired in 1992, from Brown Floor & Wall Co., after 32 years. He was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Korean War Veterans Association, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, an endowed member of Lodge 205 Free & Accepted Masons and a 32nd degree member of Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was a member of Antioch Temple, Dayton and the Lima Shrine Club. He was a graduate of Waynesfield High School. He was an Army veteran serving in Korea and Japan from January 1952 to January 1954. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. He has now gone home to be with the Lord and be reunited with his beloved wife. Survivors include a son, Alan (Pharol) Kaufman of Westerville, Ohio; two daughters, Sue "Susan" (Mike) Dunlap of Wooster, Ohio, Sheryl "Sheri" (Paul) Dellinger of Lima, Ohio; three brothers, Russell (Karen) Kaufman and Byron Eugene "Gene" (Marquita) Kaufman, both of Lima, Ohio, and Darrell Brice (Linda Sue) Kaufman of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Barbara (Darrell) Frysinger and Linda Lee (James) Hamilton, both of Lima, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jason (Lori) Kaufman, Kymberly Kaufman, Joseph Dunlap, Benjamin Dunlap, Katie Dunlap, Aaron Dellinger, Aaron Dellinger and Cody Dellinger; and two brothers-in-law, George Evers of Lima, Ohio and Harold "Pete" (Jane) Vermillion of Ocala, Florida. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margret "Avis" Evers and Marva C. Evers; and a brother, Frank Elton Kaufman. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Park United Methodist Church. The Rev. Larry Hopkins will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites by VFW Post 1275.
