WALTER JAMES "JIM" WRIGHT, 85, died at 1:53 p.m. January 17, 2007, at Lima Convalescent Home, following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born March 20, 1921, in Lima, Ohio to Walter and Freda Alstetter Wright, who preceded him in death. On July 17, 1945, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, he married Ellen Schlabach, who survives in Lima, Ohio. They were married for more than 61 years. Mr. Wright managed the Argonne Hotel for 22 years. He was a graduate of Lima Central High School and DePauw University. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a captain. He played energetic tennis with the Hog Creek Gang, friendly golf, and serious duplicate bridge and collected tons of aluminum cans to redeem for the Tri-Moraine Audubon Society, Post Office Box 5648, Lima, Ohio 45802. He loved gardening and camping and canoeing with his family. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Werner, of Fort Myers, Florida, and Christine (Albert Cornell) Wright, of Radnor, Pennsylvania; a son, Dan (Therese Spellacy) Wright, of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Don (Helen) Wright and Paul (Janice) Wright, both of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Wilma (Bob) Seiler, of Rawson, Ohio, and Carol Wright, of Lima, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Greg Werner, of Boulder, Colorado, Karin Werner, of Washington, D.C., and Harris Cornell, of Radnor, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy McCormick; a brother, John Wright; and a brother-in-law, Harold McCormick. Memorial services will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship House. The Rev. Chuck Thomas will officiate.
