Wayne L. Lackey, 89, died at 9:19 a.m. Dec. 16, 2010, at his residence. He was born Jan. 29, 1921 in Lima to Waldo and Low Freet Lackey, who preceded him in death. On March 4, 1951 he married Eileen Harmon, who preceded him in death in 1996. Mr. Lackey was retired from Buckeye Pipeline. He was a 45-year member of the Eagles Aerie 370 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was a very generous, patient and gifted man, who was a ?Jack of all trades,? having the knowledge and part to fix anything. Survivors include a granddaughter, Karen (Joe) Wince, of Lima; a grandson, Eric (Annalisa Snyder) Lackey; a step-grandchild, James M. Perine, of Lima; a daughter-in-law, Toni Lackey-Adlam, of Lima; a sister-in-law, Phillis Lackey, of Lima; two brothers, Howard (Irene) Lackey and Raymond (Rosemary) Lackey, both of Lima; a sister, Edith Yant, of Lima; and a half-brother, Frank Winegardner, of Lima. He was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Lackey; two half-brothers, Myron L. Winegardner and Vaughn Winegardner; a son, John S. Lackey; a daughter, Peggy Lackey; and a step-mother, Winifred Winegardner. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Kim Lyons will officiate. Burial will be in Bluelick Cemetery, with military graveside honors by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
