Wilbur A. Bailey, 87, died at 10:15 a.m. June 27, 2008, at his residence. He was born January 8, 1921, in Lima, Ohio to James and Thelma McGeorge Bailey, who preceded him in death. On February 8, 1947, he married Carolyn ?Rose? Finn, who died February 24, 1997. Mr. Bailey retired February 21, 1983, from the Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, after 23 years. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He served in the Army during World War II from August 5, 1942, to January 9, 1946. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, Ohio. Survivors include seven sons, Mike (Dawn) Bailey, of Spencerville, Ohio, Tim (Kathy) Bailey, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Joe A. (Peggy) Bailey, of Cridersville, Ohio, Jeff (Diane) Bailey, of Lima, Ohio, Greg Bailey, of Lima, Ohio, David (Sherry) Bailey, of La Porte, Texas, and Tom (Linda) Bailey, of Lima, Ohio; five daughters, Becky (Dale) Irwin, of Delaware, Ohio, Chris (John) Hinds, of Lima, Ohio, Missy Bailey, of Cridersville, Ohio, Jennifer (Tim) Huddleston, of Anna, Ohio, and Stephanie Herge, of Lima, Ohio; a brother, Tom (Jean) Bailey, of Lima, Ohio; three sisters, Pat (Joe) Ludwig, of Fostoria, Ohio, Trink Boedicker, of Lima, Ohio, and Kay (Dan) Mangette, of Lexington; and 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Morris, and a grandson, Marc Hinds. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The Rev. James McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will begin at 8 p.m. Monday.
