WILLIAM W. "BILL" CORWIN,SR., 84, died at 7:50 p.m. July 20, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born September 1, 1920, in Lima, Ohio to Walter and Jessie Burgoon Corwin, who preceded him in death. On August 27, 1938, he married Alice Sauer, who survives in Lima, Ohio. They would have been married 67 years in August. Mr. Corwin retired in May 1978 from Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. He was a 1938 graduate of Lima South High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and Japan. He was in the Army from October 9, 1944, to February 20, 1946. He enjoyed golfing, camping, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. He and his wife spent winters in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, for the last 25 years. Survivors also include a son, William "Bill" (Bev) Corwin Jr. of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Sharon (Roger) Lowry of Lima, Ohio and LuAnn Corwin-Crumrine of Fort Myers Beach, Florida; a sister, Mary Bowers of Urbana; and nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Corwin; and a sister Maxine Corwin Hullinger. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Wiles will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
