William O. Lucas, 80, died at 8:40 a.m. Jan. 30, 2009, at Monterey Care Center, Grove City. He was born July 17, 1928 in Lima to Oathel Williams and Florence Haver Lucas, who preceded him in death. He married Mary Daughtry, who died December 23, 2003. Mr. Lucas retired from the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Columbus. He worked for GMAC in Lima. He used to sing often at various locations, including the Milano Club. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Columbus, Disabled American Veterans and Masonic Lodge 98, Miamisburg. He served in the Army from October 19, 1945, to November 24, 1948. Survivors include a son, John (Jennifer) Lucas, of Grove City, Ohio; a daughter, Nancy Elaine (Jerry) Hauenstein, of Lima, Ohio; three granddaughters, Melisa McClellan, of Dayton, Ohio, and Megan Hauenstein and Jessica Lucas, both of Columbus, Ohio; four grandsons, Scott Puglise, of Cleveland, Ohio, Jason Puglise, of Dayton, Ohio, and Bradley Lucas and Timothy Lucas, both of Columbus, Ohio; and a half sister, Lynda (Kenny) Diercks, of Reno, Nevada. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kandi Kay Lucas Puglise. Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. The Rev.
