WILLIAM SAMUEL MACK, 84, died at 10:10 p.m. August 18, 2006, at Lima Manor Nursing Home. He was born March 17, 1922, in Spencerville, Ohio to Frank H. and Mary J. Taylor Mack, who preceded him in death. He was married on August 22, 1948, to Viola Margaret Jones, who preceded him in death. Mr. Mack worked for White Chevrolet from 1955 to 1970 as its service manager. He then worked for the state of Ohio from 1970 to 1992 as an equipment superintendent. Mr. Mack attended South Side Christian Church. He served in the Army Air Forces from November 2, 1942, to Jan. 1, 1946, during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lima Lodge 205 Free & Accepted Masons, and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. Survivors include three sons, Franklin H. (Stacia) Mack of Lima, Ohio, William Patrick Mack of Lima, Ohio and James S. (Deborah) Mack of Lima, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jennifer A. Mack, William J. Mack, Christina M. Mack, Craig A. Mack, Tyler P. Mack and Chi Mack; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Mack Ratledge. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer, Ohio, where a graveside military service will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
