William A. "Bill" Martin,

87, passed away at 1:50 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Lima Convalescent Home in Lima.

Bill was born on Monday, October 29, 1928, in Putnam County, to the late Henry and Joanna (Brinkman) Martin. On Wednesday, September 6, 1950, in Delphos, he married Ruth Utrup who survives.

Bill served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Machinist at Ford Motor Company Engine Plant in Lima, in the V-8 Crankshaft section. He was a member of the Eagles #370 and the United Auto Workers #1219. He was a life member of the Elks and the American Legion #96. He belonged to St. Gerard's Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.

He is survived by: sons, Daniel (Mary Jane) Martin, Amelia, OH, Michael (Connie) Martin, Bellefontaine, OH, Richard (Lori) Martin, Dublin, Thomas (Karen) Martin, Elida and Stephen (Louise) Martin, Elida; daughter, Rebecca (Kevin) Hils, Bronx, NY; fifteen grandchildren; three step grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three step great grandchild and one great great step grandchild.

He is preceded in death by: brothers, Leonard, Leo and Walter Martin; sisters, Hilda Grothaus, Gertrude Etter, Dorothy Kriegel-Kendal and Florentine "Honey" Cooley; grandchild, Katlyn Martin and great grandchild, Benjamin Logan Dragotta.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 PM on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima. A Parish Wake service will be held at 8 PM with Military honors conducted by VFW 1275.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lima. Father Jim Szobonya and Father Mike Sergi will officiate. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
