William J. Overholtz Sr.
84, died at 10:40 AM on Monday, June 03, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
William was born on March 08, 1929, in Lima, Ohio, to James E. Overholtz and Catherine I. [O'Brien] Overholtz.
On July 16, 1949 he married Elizabeth "Betty" Miorin. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2011. He was a 1947 graduate of St. Rose High School. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church; and a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge #54, Lima. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1987. He was an avid golfer and bowler, loved gardening, the outdoors, and was a huge Ohio State Fan.
He is survived by: two sons, William J. (Marge) Overholtz , Jr., of East Falmouth, MA, and David (Melissa) Overholtz , of Lima, OH; two daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Guagenti, of Elida, OH, and Patricia (Tim) Meier, of Lima, OH; Twelve grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Mekolites, of Lima, OH.
He was preceded in death by: three sisters, Mary Mekolites, Nancy Fisher, and Julie Ketcham.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 06, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Wake Service will be at 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 06, 2013 following the visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 07, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father David M. Ross officiating.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio at a later date at the convenience of the family.
