William ?Rudy? Parlette 81, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Harrod, died at 2:25 a.m. April 12, 2009, at Hospice Arbor Home, Mesa, Ariz. He was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Harrod to Adrian and Ella Leedy Parlette, who preceded him in death. On June 19, 1944, he married Gloria Lynn, who survives in Mesa, Ariz. Mr. Parlette was a member of American Legion Post 93 and a life member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Lima. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He loved fishing, golfing and riding his motorcycle. He also loved traveling, reading and watching the History channel. He was known for his great sense of humor. He was a gentle soul who was loved by many, especially his wife and his girls who were truly the light of his life. Survivors also include three daughters, Deb (Bob) Hoffman, of Grove City, Cindy Kline, of Largo, Fla., and Brenda (Dave) Schimmoeller, of Delphos; four grandchildren, Christy, Kaire, Steven and Melissa; four great-grandchildren, Riley, Michael, Piersen and Taelor; two sisters, JoAnne Drury, of Harrod, and Mary Belle Spencer, of Lima; a sister-in-law, Wanda Lynn, of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father- and motherin-law, Elmer and Ina Lynn; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd ?Dutch? Lynn and Bill Drury; and a son-in-law, Jim Kline. There will be a celebration of his life at 1 p.m. May 23 at his daughter?s residence in Delphos. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley Arbor Home, 6063 E.
