William S. Reed,
96, died at 3 AM on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Lima Convalescent Home in Lima, Ohio.
William was born on Monday, August 1, 1921, in Lima, to the late Melvin and Lovie (McGinnis) Reed. On Saturday, October 2, 1943, he married Ruth E. Reese who preceded him in death on July 12, 2017.
Bill was a 1942 graduate of Central High School and served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He was retired from Standard Oil and was a member of the Sohio / Quarter Century Club. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and was a member of their Crusaders Class and the Kingsman. Bill also belonged to the American Legion and Oil Workers Union Local 7-624. He enjoyed woodworking, stained glass art and gardening. Traveling was something Bill and his wife loved to do visiting 49 of the 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico, France, Italy and Spain.
He is survived by: three daughters, Nancy M. Clum, Kathleen (Don) Krouskop and Diane Grimes; seven grandchildren, Angie Evans, Amy Harner, Kristy (David) Ruark, Kelly (Matt) Berney, Scott Krouskop, Lynette Brentlinger and Lindsey Grimes; nine great grandchildren, Cassie, Ashley, Alyssa, Michael, Eyon, Ava, Johnny Mac, Olivia and Alexis; two great-great-grandchildren, Jace and Aria; and a sister, Betty Pohlabel.
He was preceded in death by: a great grandson, Brady James Evans; three sisters, Juanita Stemen, Anna Mae Reed and Shirley Jett and three brothers, Fred Reed, Harold Reed and Carl 'Gene' Reed.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 2:30 PM on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery Committal Chapel in Lima, Ohio. Pastor Michael Hughes will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
