Wilma Jean Best

Wilma Jean Best, went to meet her Savior on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at The Springs of Lima, after 100 blessed years on this Earth.

Jean was born on March 4, 1925, in Cairo, Ohio, to Ward and Helen (Crom) Wert. She was first married to Donald Best who preceded her in death on February 22, 1974. On November 26, 1975, she then married Arlie Best who preceded her in death on November 14, 2014.

Jean had retired as an Account Clerk Supervisor from Oakwood Correction Facility. She was a member of Cairo United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Robert) Gross; son, Ronald (Beverly) Best; grandchildren: Rob (Bonnie) Gross, Matthew (Kimberli) Best, Ryan (Ashley) Gross, Brian (Jennifer) Best, Laura Best; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou (John) Howe and Donna B. (John) Smith.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the funeral home. Chaplain Glory Geib will officiate. Burial will follow at Cairo East Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Interim Hospice.
