Wilma Irene Lackey

Wilma Irene Lackey , 93, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Irene was born on September 11, 1928 in Lima, Ohio, to Ivan and Lois (Sellers) Bowersock.  On December 6, 1947 she married Howard Lackey, who survives in Lima.

Irene was a 64 year member of Forest Park Church, Lima, Ohio.  She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved her family. She drove a school bus for Bath Local Schools, Allen County, Ohio, for 20 years, retiring in December of 1988.  She and her husband belonged to the Silver Spurs Square Dance Club which included wintering in Texas for 23 years.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her children; Debra (Craig) Workman, Denise (Don) Bush, Gary (Sharon) Lackey and Chrisa McGhee; nine grandchildren; Jessica (Alex) Coleman, Kate (Ben Wysocki) Workman, Jodi (Eric) Wireman, Scott (Robyn) Bush, Angelena (Shane) Hillen, Justin (Katie) Lackey, Nicole (Josh) Zimmerman, Matt McGhee, and Morgan (Shane Ramsey) Zimmerman. They were greatly blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law Kevin McGhee; two sisters Eileen (Otto) Stemen-Hebel, and Janice (Bill) Weldy.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022       at Forest Park Church with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Teresa Wenrick and Pastor Thomas Holmes       will officiate.  Burial will follow at Bluelick Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest Park United Methodist Church.
