Winston N. Huffer , 83, died at 1:23 p.m. March 17, 2009. He was born February 16, 1926, in Gomer to Walter P. and Viola Neely Huffer, who preceded him in death. On October 7, 1946, in Lima, Ohio, he married Dorothy Estes, who survives. Mr. Huffer served in the U.S. Army from April 24, 1944, to June 22, 1946, in Central Europe. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a bronze star, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal World War II, and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked for Standard Oil and retired from Schwerman Trucking after 21 years and after retirement he worked in maintenance at OSU-Lima. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima. He enjoyed working in the yard and was always happy. Survivors also include two sons, Walter Brent (Mary) Huffer, of Elida, Ohio, and Bradley Wynn Huffer, of Lima, Ohio; three brothers, Daniel W. Huffer, of Lebanon, Ohio, Walter L. (Edith) Huffer, of Findlay, Ohio, and Herbert E. (Pat) Huffer, of Toledo, Ohio; a sister, Anetta Clevenger, of Savannah, Ohio; four grandsons, Randy (Alana) Huffer, of Elida, Ohio, and Walter ?Butch? Huffer, David Lee Huffer and Michael Martin, all of Lima, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren, Bridget Huffer, Alex Huffer, Cody Huffer, Jennifer Huffer and Lauren Huffer. He was preceded in death by two brothers, BurtonHuffer and Milo E. Huffer; a sister, Pauline Cox; and a grandson, James Recker. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Dr. Dennis Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Sugarcreek Cemetery, Lima, with military rites by VFW Post 1275.
