Yvonne Mae Jackson

Yvonne Mae Jackson, 89, of Lima, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at her home. She was born on December 20, 1934 in Florence, Alabama to Claire Barnett and Sherman Boddie. When she was two, her mother passed away and she was then raised by her grandparents, Carrie and George Barnett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; first husband, William Lee Young Sr.; second husband, Leroy Jackson; sons, Gary Young and William Young Jr.; siblings: Kynie (Douglas) Bennings, Catherine (JS) Dunn, Nettie (Wyatt) Vaughn, Sherman Boddie Jr., and Canada Barnett; sons-in-law, George Bryant and Isaac Upshaw Sr.; grandchildrenn Catherine Young and Michael Young; great-granddaughter, Ka”Laya Rose; siblings, James Otis Boddie and Mattie Boddie; and long-time best friend, Tommie Ann Hobbs.

She is survived by her children: Beverly L. Upshaw, Tanya D. Young, Kimberly (John White) Young, Sharma (Doug Ware) Young, Malaya Bryant, and Hans Young; siblings, Joshua (Lorraine) Boddie, Samuel (Pamela) Boddie, Gennie Boddie Smith, Nelson (Marnello) Boddie, and Janice Williams; 25 grandchidlren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Special mention to Pearlie Fisher, Leah Davis, Gladys Wright, cousin, Clara Lee Bankston and niece, Bunnie Dunn.

The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church, Lima. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. at the church. Dr. B. LaMont Monford will officiate.
