Zeta Holtzapple

ZETA MAE HOLTZAPPLE, 88, died at 2:25 p.m. May 30, 2007, at The Ridge at Shawnee, in the arms of her loving family. She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Marion to Samuel and Cordelia Mae "Della" Shafer Allman, who preceded her in death. On April 30, 1937, she married Byron Holtzapple, who died Oct. 11, 1964. Mrs. Holtzapple retired from the dietary department at Lima Convalescent Home. Survivors include a son, John D. Holtzapple, of Lima; three daughters, Marilyn S. (Harold) Hamilton, of Huntsville, Carol J. (Thomas) Doll, of Elida, and Lori A. (Jeffrey) Riley, of Lakeview; a sister, Dolores Benson, of Lima; eight grandchildren, Steven Briley, Greg Briley, Jeff Briley, Scott Sweeney, Eric Sweeney, Ken Holtzapple, Erin Riley and Adam Riley; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild, with a second on the way; and several stepgrandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Kenneth Holtzapple; and five siblings, Orville and Wilbur Poland, Margurite Decker, Marie Allman and Robert Poland. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Allentown Cemetery, Allentown.
