Zopher Blodgett

Zopher E. ?Sonny? Blodgett, 77, died at 2:05 a.m. April 11, 2008, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home. He was born January 28, 1931, in Lima, Ohio to Zopher E. II and Hazel Dotson Blodgett, who preceded him in death. On December 20, 1952, in Lima, Ohio, he married Marilyn J. Kemp, who survives in Russell?s Point, Ohio. Mr. Blodgett was a real-estate broker and auctioneer. He had worked as a security guard at Lima State Hospital and was a former bus driver for Perry schools. He loved participating and selling at flea markets. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Lima, Ohio, and a member of American Legion Post 888, Delaware, Ohio. He was a member of the Tri-State Gun Collectors. He was a founding member of the Lima Beagle Club and was a member of the Bass Masters and the Perry Boosters. He served in the Navy from June 11, 1951, to June 7, 1955. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Survivors also include two sons, Steven G. (Marie) Blodgett, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Dean A. (Shelly) Blodgett, of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Terry K. Blodgett and Vicky L. (Rob) Stidham, both of Lima, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary. A. Wallace. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Wanda Werking will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, Lima, where VFW Post 1275 will conduct a military graveside service. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
